Linden Wins Number 20 for 2nd Straight Year
Linden 9 Rochester Adams 1
Linden Eagles Varsity grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-1 victory over Adams on Tuesday. The first run scored on a single by Christina Clemons in the second inning. Linden scored three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a groundout by Ashley Bertschy and a single by Heather Crampton. Jillian Wright earned the win for Linden Eagles Varsity. She tossed seven innings, surrendering one run, five hits, striking out two, and walking one to earn her 4th victory on the season
The team collected 17 hits. Clemons, Elle Klocek, Deanna Jenkinson, Jillian Widner, and Crampton each collected multiple hits for Linden. Clemons went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the way. Linden fielded well and didn't commit a single error in the field. Lauren Buerkel had the most chances in the field with seven. Elle Klocek also bombed her 8th homer of the year.

Linden Softball Drops Two to Fenton
Game 1 Linden 6 Fenton 10
Linden Eagles Varsity and Fenton passed the lead back-and-forth on Monday, but eventually Fenton prevailed 10-6. The game was tied at six with Fenton batting in the top of the sixth when Sara Eisenbeis singled off of Jillian Wright, driving in one run. Linden collected nine hits and Fenton had 15 in the high-scoring affair. Jillian Wright took the loss for Linden Eagles Varsity. She tossed five and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs, 11 hits, striking out four, and walking one. Elle Klocek, Liz Rakowski, Christina Clemons, and Ashley Bertschy each collected multiple hits for Linden. Bertschy, Clemons, Rakowski, and Klocek each managed two hits to lead the team. Clemens doubled and homered to lead the hitting.
Game 2 Linden 7 Fenton 16
Linden and Fenton passed the lead back-and-forth on Monday, but eventually Fenton prevailed 16-7. Linden led 6-4 going into the top of the six when Fenton scored 5 times to take a 9-4 lead. Linden did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Fenton had 12 hits on the way to victory. Linden scored three runs in the fourth inning highlighted by a single by Kim Freitas and a single by Rakowski. Sterling DeGayner, Clemons, Rakowski, and Freitas each managed two hits to lead the team. DeGayner hit her 4th homer of the year in the bottom of the second to tie the score 1-1.

Linden Captures the Holt Round Robin Tournament

Game 1 Linden 7 Jackson Northwest 2
  • Linden Eagles Varsity took the lead for good in the fifth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Jackson Nw by a 7-2 score on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Linden Eagles Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Elle Klocek singled off of Bailey Cooper, driving in two runs.​ Linden scored three runs in the sixth inning on a double by Kim Freitas, a double by Liz Rakowski, and a single by Sterling DeGayner.​ Megan Oda earned the win for Linden, tossing seven innings, giving up two runs, five hits, and striking out six. The team had 12 hits in the game. Elle Klocek, Rakowski, and DeGayner each collected multiple hits for Linden. DeGayner, Rakowski, and Klocek each drove in two runs to lead the team. Linden didn't commit a single error in the field. Heather Crampton had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

Linden Splits with Hot Owosso Team

Linden Eagles Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-3 loss to Owosso on Wednesday. Owosso scored on a single by Hannah Ardelean and a single by J Grubb in the first inning.
Owosso captured the lead in the first inning. Hannah Ardelean singled on a 3-1 count in the first inning, scoring two runs.M Jodway earned the win for Owosso. She tossed seven innings, allowing three runs, nine hits, striking out seven, and walking one. Megan Oda took the loss for Linden. She threw five innings, giving up six runs, six hits, and striking out three. Linden collected nine hits. Ashley Bertschy and Kim Freitas each collected multiple hits for Linden. Bertschy went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

Game 2 Linden 7 Owosso 2
Linden took the lead late in the game in a 7-2 victory over Owosso on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with Linden batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kim Freitas grounded out, scoring one run. Liz Rakowski then hit a solo home run (her 6th) to extend the lead to 4-2. Owosso took an early lead in the second inning. With two outs in the second inning A Abrams drove in one run when she doubled. Linden scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Kim Freitas and a single by Christina Clemons. Jillian Widner earned the win for Linden Eagles Varsity. She tossed seven innings, allowing three runs, two hits, and striking out two. M Jodway took the loss for Owosso. She threw six innings, allowing seven runs, 13 hits, striking out five, and walking one.
Linden had 13 hits in the game. Ashley Bertschy, Liz Rakowski, and Sterling DeGayner each collected multiple hits for the team. Clemons and Freitas each drove in two runs to lead Linden. Owosso came into the game on a 7 game winning streak.
Softball Splits With Kearsley
Game 1 Linden 16 Brandon 23
Even though Linden Eagles Varsity and Kearsley both had their opportunities, it was Kearsley that eventually prevailed 23-16 on Tuesday. Kearsley trailed 16-15 in the top of the sixth inning when Halle Parish doubled driving in two runs. Ashley Bertschy collected five hits in defeat. Bertschy doubled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and doubled in the seventh. Linden scored seven runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Sterling DeGayner, a single by Jillian Widner, a single by Elle Klocek, a error , and a single by Bertschy. Linden collected 24 hits. Bertschy, Kim Freitas, DeGayner, Klocek, Corryn Reger, Liz Rakowski, Christina Clemons, Lauren Buerkel, and Widner each collected multiple hits for Linden Eagles Varsity. Widner and DeGayner each drove in three runs to lead Linden. Lauren Buerkel hit her 1st home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Linden Eagles Varsity took the lead for good in the fifth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Kearsley by a 19-13 score on Tuesday. The game was tied at ten with Linden Eagles Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kim Freitas singled off of C Oullette, driving in one run. Liz Rakowski collected five hits in five at bats to help lead Linden to victory. Rakowski homered in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and doubled in the sixth. After Kearsley scored two runs in the top of the fourth, Linden answered with two of their own when Sterling DeGayner hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and Widner homered off of C Oullette, driving in one run. Widner earned the win. The girls had 22 hits in the game. Rakowski, Kim Freitas, Christina Clemons, Lauren Buerkel, Widner, and Elle Klocek each collected multiple hits for Linden. Liz was 7-9 on the day with 1 homer and 7 RBI's. Widner matched her with 1 HR and 7 RBI's while going 5-10. Bertschy and Freitas had 6 hits, and Klocek, Clemons, and Buerkel had 5 hits each!

The Linden Eagles Softball (9-6 overall 5-1 in league) team had a roadtrip with a college feel over the weekend. Getting out of school at 2:00 on Friday, they hopped on a bus and drove to Alma for a 5:00 pm game! Linden trailed 4-3 when Freshman Elle Klocek led off the top of the 6th with a solo home run. Syd Palmquist promptly pinch hit a double followed by a Sophomore Corryn Reger walk. They moved into scoring position on a passed ball and Kimmy Freitas singled both runs in to give Linden a 6-4 lead. Alma, who was a 2016 Division 2 quarter finalist scored 4 in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-6 lead. The Eagles "Refuse to Lose" attitude loaded the bases with one out. Ashley Bertschy grounded out to drive in a run to get within one. The Eagles scored the winning runs on two wild pitches. Freshman Jillian Wright came on in relief of Megan Oda who earned her 4th win to record her first save with a perfect 7th inning. The Eagles then loaded on the bus and headed to an awaiting hotel in Clare, Michigan for 2 games the following morning. The young Eagles struggled in the first game Saturday losing 15-5 to Standish-Sterling. The game was highlighted by home runs from Klocek (3rd of year), Lizzie Rakowski (4th of year) and Bertchsy (3rd of year). In the final game of the weekend Linden beat Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart 10-1, jumping out to a quick 7-1 lead after two innings. Christina Clemens drove in 3 runs to lead Linden in the finally. Jillian Wright pitched 6 1/3 innings of scoreless ball striking out 6 to earn her 2nd high school win. Rakowski led the hitting charge over the 3 games going 5-9 with 3 walks, followed by Kimmy Freitas who was 5-10 with 2 walks. Freshman Jillian Widner led the Eagles with 5 RBI's over the weekend. It was a great weekend of team bonding for a young Eagles team with 9 first year varsity players!
Linden Splits with Brandon to go to 5-1 in League

A walk-off left Linden Eagles Varsity on the wrong end of a 10-9 defeat to Brandon on Monday. The game was tied at nine with Brandon batting in the bottom of the seventh when O Consiglio singled off of Megan Oda, driving in one run.​ Elle Klocek drove in five runners in the loss. Klocek drove in runs on a double in the third and a home run in the seventh.​ Linden took an early lead in the first inning when Liz Rakowski homered with two outs in the first inning.​ Linden scored five runs in the third inning. Linden's big inning was driven by a passed ball , a double by Klocek, and a double by Ashley Bertschy. Home runs for Linden Eagles Varsity came when Rakowski homered in the first inning and Klocek homered in the seventh inning.​ Linden had 12 hits in the game. Bertschy, Rakowski, and Klocek each collected multiple hits for the team. Klocek led Linden Eagles Varsity with five runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 in game 1.

Linden Softball plays well at Byron Tourney going 2-1 on the day

Megan Oda didn't allow a single run as Linden Eagles Varsity defeated Durand 2-0 on Saturday. Oda allowed just four hits in six scoreless innings and induced a groundout from Rustie Mccormick to end the game.Linden didn't take the lead until later in the game. With one out in the fifth inning Christina Clemons drove in one run when she singled.​ Ashley Bertschy went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Linden Eagles Varsity in hits. Linden didn't commit a single error in the field. Clemons had five chances in the field, the most on the team.

​Even though Linden and Byron both had their opportunities, it was Byron that eventually prevailed 5-3 on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Byron batting in the bottom of the fifth when S Anderson doubled off of Jillian Widner, driving in two runs. Linden lost despite out-hitting Byron 8 to 7. Widner and LIz Rakowski both drove in runs for Linden/

Jillian Wright didn't allow a single run as Linden Eagles Varsity defeated Mason 5-0 on Saturday. Wright allowed just three hits and struck out S Demott to end the game. An early lead supplied by Ashley Bertschey's lead off Home Run gave Linden all the runs they needed. In the third inning Liz Rakowski helped supply some insurance with a 3 run homer.​ Syd Palmquist doubled off the fence to drive in the last run. Jillian Wright earned her first varsity win for Linden as she pitched six innings, surrendering zero runs, three hits, striking out four, and walking one.

Eagles lose to New Boston Huron 7-1 at Madonna College
  • Linden Eagles Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-1 loss to New Boston Huron on Saturday. New Boston Huron scored on a triple by M Coak, a single , a home run by Canille Gray, and an error in the second inning. Jillian Widner threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings to keep Linden in the game.​ Sterling DeGayner led Linden Eagles Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Eagles Sweep Creek to start Metro League Play
  • In Game 1 Linden took the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over Swartz Creek on Thursday. Linden was down 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Liz Rakowski homered to deep left field driving in two runs.The pitching was strong on both sides. Megan Oda struck out four, while the Swartz Creek pitcher sat down seven.​ Oda earned her first varstiy win as she threw seven innings, allowing two runs, 11 hits, striking out four, and walking one. Ashley Bertschy, Sterling DeGayner, Christina Clemons, Liz Rakowski, Corryn Reger, and Jillian Widner each collected one hit to lead Linden.

The game was tied at four with Linden batting in the bottom of the fourth when Ashley Bertschy doubled driving in two runs.​Ashley Bertschy led Linden to victory by driving in four runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate. Bertschy drove in runs on a double in the fourth and a double in the fifth. Linden took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Christina Clemons grounded out, scoring one run and Sterling DeGayner singled driving in one run.​ Clemons earned the win as she threw six innings, giving up four runs, 11 hits, and striking out three. ​Linden collected 18 hits. Corryn Reger, Kim Freitas, Liz Rakowski, DeGayner, and Bertschy each collected multiple hits in game 2. Rakowski, Freitas, and Reger each managed three hits to lead the team

Grand Blanc
The Varsity Softball team lost 2 close games to Grand Blanc last night. 4-2 and 2-1. In Game 1 the Eagles outhit the Bobcats 11 to 7 but could not get the key hit to drive in runs. The Eagles tied the score in the top of the 5th at 2 each, but Grand Blanc scored 2 in the bottom of the 5th and that's where the scoring stopped! Lex Marsh pitched well giving up only 1 earned run while striking out 6 and walking 1. Kim Freitas, Molly Churches, Sterling Degayner and Emily Williams all had 2 hits to lead Linden in Game 1. Game 2 saw Christina Clemons and two Grand Blanc pitchers have quite a pitchers duel! Clemons limited Grand Blanc to 5 hits and struck out 7, but Linden could only muster 4 hits. Jess Richert drove in the only run in the top of the 5th to give Linden a 1-0 lead, but again Grand Blanc answered with 2 in the bottom of the fifth to capture the 2-1 victory. The Eagles open District Play at 10:00 am Saturday vs. Goodrich at Lake Fenton High School.
Ogemaw Heights Champions
Ashley Bertschey crushed a three run walk off homer as Linden run ruled Gladwin (27-9) to win the Ogemaw Heights Tournament for the first time in 7 years of playing in the tournament! Linden Beat Tawas 5-3 and Ogemaw Heights 10-3 to get to the championship game vs Gladwin. From there Linden jumped on Gladwin with 2 runs in the first and 5 runs in the second. Alexa Marsh kept Gladwin off balance allowing 6 hits in earning her 13th win of the year. Gladwin threatened with 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth, but were finished when Bertschey made a running catch down the right field line. Bertschey finished the game 3-4 with 5 RBI's and the homer! Liz Rakowski and Christina Clemons also had 3 hits and 3 and 2 RBI's respectively in the championship game. They both also had 2 doubles vs. Gladwin. In the first game vs. Tawas Sterling DeGayner got Linden on the board first with a two run Homer in the second inning to get the Eagles the early lead. Marsh pitched well scattering 9 hits and only allowing 3 runs. Liz Rakowski gave Linden some breathing room with a solo Homer in the top of the seventh inning. Molly Churches, Rakowski and DeGayner all had 2 hits to lead Linden. DeGayner had 6 total bases with her two hits. In the Game 2 victory Cayla Wierenga (4) and Kimmy Freitas (3) had seven hits between them hitting in the Number 1 and 2 spots in the lineup. In the 2nd inning Jess Richert laid down a perfect bunt to move Sam Polidan (running for the pitcher Clemons) to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no one out. Polidan scored on some aggressive baserunning on a passed ball to give LInden a 2-0 lead early. Ogemaw battled back to tie the game at 3 in the top of the 4th. A Brittney Vargas double started the bottom of the forth inning for Linden who then struck for 5 runs to open up the game!. Marsh and Freitas both had 2 RBI to lead the team in the 10-3 victory. Christina Clemons scattered 9 hits and allowed 3 runs in winning her 11th game of the year! In the three games Linden scored 28 runs and only allowed 9. The Eagles pounded out 45 hits in the Memorial Day weekend sun, led by Liz Rawoski who went 7-12 with 3 doubles and a Homer and 4 RBI's Ashely Bertschey finished the weekend 5-9 with 6 RBI, DeGayner, Clemons, and Churches all had 5 hits during the weekend. Emily Williams was solid at shortstop handling 11 chances and Sterling DeGayner turned her 8th double play of the year and showed tremendous range at second base in leading the glove work for Linden. The wins improve the Eagles record to 24-10 on the year!
St. John's
The Linden Varsity softball team swept St. John's by scores of 10-4 and 7-5. In game 1 Christina Clemons followed a booming triple by Sterling DeGayner with a double to straight away center field to get Linden a 1-0 lead after one inning. The Eagles jumped on St. Johns with 4 more runs in the second keyed by a Molly Churches 2 run double. Ashley Bertschy also had a key hit in the 5th inning driving in two runs Lex Marsh scattered 4 hits and struck out 4 with no walks on the mound. Marsh also had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Liz Rakowksi led the hit parade with 3 of the teams 15 hits in game 1. In Game 2 Christina Clemons pitched well shutting out St. Johns thru 5 innings before settling for the 7-5 win. Cayla Wierenga reached base on all 5 of her plate appearances! Molly Churches and Clemons accounted for 5 hits and 5 RBI's between them. Ashley Bertschy also reached base 3 times in Game 2, and Kimmy Freitas had two hits in each game. The wins move Linden to 21 - 10 on the year!
Fenton
Fenton broke open a 2-2 ballgame in Game 1 with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Linden could not overcome the deficit and lost 5-2. Lex Marsh pitched well enough to keep Linden in the game, but the offense just couldn't get that timely hit. The Eagles ended up with 16 hits in Game 1 including 4 by Cayla Wierenga! Game 2 was won by Fenton 12-2. Molly Churches had 4 hits in the doubleheader. Linden finishes Metro League play with 10 wins and a second place finish!
Fowlerville
Christina Clemons threw her 3rd shutout of the year as Linden beat Fowlerville 8-0 in Game 2. She scattered 4 hits and struck out 3 over 7 innings or work! Liz Rakowski hit a Grand Slam in the 3rd inning for her 7th Home Run of the year, to give Linden a 5-0 lead. Game 1 was a huge offensive showing for both teams. Fowlerville jumped out to a 9-4 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. Linden was knocking on the door, and thru the first 4 innings had left 9 base runners on base. Jess Richert led off the bottom of the 5th with a walk, and then the floodgates opened. The Eagles batted around and scored 6 runs! Kim Freitas, Lex Marsh, Christina Clemons and Molly Churches all had 3 hits in Game 2. Liz Rakowski had 4 hits, and in the double header was 8-8 and also reached base on a walk for a perfect night at the plate! Lex drove in 4 runs on 5 hits. Molly and had 5 hits on the night and she and Christina both had 3 RBI's
Clio
Christina Clemons beat Clio, for the second time in 9 days scattering 6 hits and pitching 5 scoreless innings, after Clio scored 2 in the top of the first inning. She helped lead Linden Varsity Softball to a 12-2 win in Game 2. The Eagles pounded out 18 hits led by Cayla Wierenga's 4 hit performance. Included in the 4 hits were a double and a Home Run. Lex Marsh also added a solo Home Run in the second inning. Adding 3 hits each in Game 2 were Liz Rakowksi and Christina Clemons... Jess Richert and Kim Freitas both had 2 hits each. In Game 1 Clio jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and Linden was never able to recover in the 8-4 defeat. Molly Churches had 2 RBI singles to lead the team. Ashley Bertschey made it exciting with a 2 run single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Currently the Linden Varsity Softball team is at 10-2 in league play (17-8 overall) and will face off next Monday, at Fenton for a chance to be Metro League Champs!!
Powers
Lex Marsh pitched a one-hit gem on Friday, in Game 2, to get the Linden Varsity Softball team a split vs Flint Powers. Game 1 saw Linden fall 8-6, but the team got back on track with a 8-1 win in Game 2. Sterling DeGayner got it done with her glove, turning 3 double plays on the night. Liz Rakowski knocked her 6th home run of the year in the 5th inning of Game 2 to extend the lead to 8-0. Liz had 3 hits on the day and 3 RBI. Molly Churches led the team with 4 RBI on the night from 2 big hits. Emily Williams and Megan Klavitter also had 2 hits on the night. The Eagles face Metro League foe Clio at home on Monday!!
Kearsley
The Linden Varsity Softball Team continued their winning ways by sweeping Metro League foe Flint Kearsley 4-3 and 9-4. Game 1 was tied 0-0 as Linden batted in the top of the 12th inning. Emily Williams drove home the first run and Liz Rakowski and Molly Churches both doubled to help give Linden a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the 12th. Kearsley chipped away and scored 3 but it wasn't enough! Lex Marsh pitched 12 innings, including the first 11 that were shutout innings. Lex also pitched the final 3 innings in Game 2 for her 3rd save of the year. Game 2 saw Linden break the game open with 6 runs in the top of the 5th inning of a 3-2 game. Brittney Vargas singled to start the inning, but the big hit was a 3 run homer by Sterling DeGayner! Degayner was 6-10 on the day to lead the Eagles in hitting. Liz Rakowski hit her 5th homer of the year in the first inning and finished game 2 with 5 RBI's. Molly Churches also came up big with 4 hits in Game 1 and 5 overall. Kim Freitas, Megan Klavitter and Cayla Wierenga all added 3 hits on the night! Cristina Clemens was the winning pitcher in game 2 for her 7th win of the year The wins improve Linden's record to 15-6 overall and 9-1 in Metro League play.
Clarkston Invite
The Eagles Varsity Softball Team played well enough to win each game this weekend but fell a little shy to Clarkston and Yale. In Game 1 Yale beat Linden 8-5. Kimmy Freitas and Liz Rakowski both had solo home runs, but it was't enough. In Game 2 facing Metro League foe Clio, the Eagles won 12-2. Christina Clemens pitched solid and went the distance on the mound backed by some great fielding and timely hitting!. In Game 3 Linden faced Division 1 powerhouse Clarkston and had a chance in the bottom of the 7th to win it as Sterling DeGayner and Megan Klavitter led off with singles. An untimely double play halted the rally as Linden fell 5-2. Lex Marsh went the distance on the mound and pitched well! On the weekend Sterling DeGayner went 6-11 with 4 RBI's. Kimmy Freitas was 5-11. Liz Rakowski went 4-10. Ashely Bertschy, Lex Marsh, and Megan Klavitter all added 3 hits.
Brandon
The Linden Varsity Softball Swept Brandon last night 10-6 and 4-2 behind a balanced hitting attack and some solid pitching from Alexa Marsh and Cristina Clemens. Marsh started and went the distance in Game 1 for the Victory. She relieved Clemens, who pitched 4 really nice innings, to earn the save. Emily Williams and Kayla Wierenga added some solid defensive plays. In a tight game 2, Wierenga cut a ball off in the gap that prevented runners from advancing and made some nice catches in Left Field! Williams showed off her range at shortstop in making some key plays, as well as making the routine plays! Megan Klavitter and Kimmy Freitas continued their hot hitting! Klavitter had 5 hits and Freitas had 4 on the night. Molly Churches had 3 hits in Game 1 and Sterling DeGayner had 3 hits to lead the team in Game 2. Liz Rakowski added her 3rd home run of the year in Game 1. The wins move LInden to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in the Metro.
Flushing
Alexa Marsh struck out 16 Flushing batters in giving up only 1 run over two games to lead the Varsity softball team to a sweep over visiting Flushing. The Eagles won game one with a shutout 12-0 and scored 8 runs in the 5th to win 8-1 in game 2. The Eagles had 23 hits in the doubleheader led by Kim Freitas' 5 hits and Megan Klavitter's 4 hits. Sterling DeGayner also added 3 hits and 3 RBI's. Cayla Wierenga and Alexa Marsh also added 3 RBI's. The wins move Linden to 10-4 on the year and 5-1 in the Metro! Fowlerville comes to town on Thursday!
Clare Invite Champions
On Saturday the Varsity Softball Eagles won the Clare Invitational by beating scrappy Rudyard in Game 1 by a score of 4-3 and then beating tournament host Clare in the finals 9-4. In Game 1 Linden led 4-0 behind the pitching of Alexa Marsh, who had 9 strikeouts in the game, but had to hold on for the 4-3 win as Rudyard scored 3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Liz Rakowski and Kim Freitas each had 2 hits to the lead the Eagles and Marsh drove in 2 runs. In game 2, Linden broke open a 0-0 game with a 5 run rally in the bottom of the third inning. Brittney Vargas started the rally with a hot shot to third for a single, Jess Richert followed with a walk in a quality at bat. After the next two batters were out, Liz Rawkoski drove in the first run with a single. Later in the inning both Alexa Marsh and Sterling DeGayner hit shots off the fence to plate more runs. Linden kept the bats hot after that adding 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th and 6th. Rakowski and DeGayner both went 3-3 with 3 RBI's each, in Game 2. . Christina Clemens went 5 strong innings for the win and was relieved by Alexa Marsh who pitched the final two innings. Linden was helped by tremendous fielding in the victory vs. Clare. Sterling Degayner started two double plays including one where she ranged into shallow centerfield, caught the ball and threw out the Clare runner trying to score on the tag. Clemens also made a great play by snagging a foul popup at the fence for the 2nd out of the 7th inning. The Eagles face Flushing at home on Monday!
Lake Fenton
Linden girls lost both games against Lake Fenton last night. In the first game, Linden fell short by a score of 5-4. Kim Freitas did have 4 hits. Sterling Degaynor and Megan Klavitter each had two hits. Liz Rakowski hit a home run. Linden dropped the second game 11-3. Cayla Wieranga and Alexa Marsh had two hits each in the loss.
Swartz Creek
The Varsity softball team won both games Monday at Swartz Creek, the first game by the score of 3-0. Alexa Marsh pitched the shutout. Kim Freeitas and Cayla Wierenga had 2 hits each. Molly Churches drove in 2 runs. Linden won the 2nd game 8-7. Christina Clemons pitched all 9 innings and added 2 hits. Liz Rakowski hit a 2 run homerun in the 9th inning that was the game winner.3-0 .
Holly
Linden Varsity Softball team split with Holly on Thursday. Game #1- Holly won 6-3. In the the loss, Liz Rekowski had 2 doubles and a single. Megan Klavitter also added 2 hits. Game #2- Linden won 10-0 in 5 innings. Kim Freitas, Liz Rekowski and Ashley Bertschy all add 2 hits each. Christina Clemmons pitched the win in the shut out game.
Mt. Morris
Linden Varsity Softball split a double header against Mt. Morris on Tuesday. Linden lost the first game by a score of 10-3. Kim Freitas had two hits and an RBI. Liz Rakowski also had two hits. Linden came back to win the second game 6-5. Alexa Marsh got the win and had two RBI's. Christina Clemmons and Molly Churches had three hits each. Emily Williams drove in two runs.The next game is Home against Holly on Thursday.

2016 Softball off season conditioning will start Wednesday, January 6th at 5:30 in the high school weight room. Off season hitting will start Sunday January 10th on the High school balcony. A sigh up sheet for high school will be in the high school athletic office . At the middle school, it will be in the middle school main office.
Lake Fenton-Districts
Lake Fenton scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st of the MHSAA District semi-finals, Linden scored a run in the bottom half of the inning, On a Cayla Wirenga double and a Sterling DeGayner single. Linden tied the game in the 3rd when Megan Klavitter doubled and scored on a Rhiannon Morse single. Lake Fenton Scored 1 in the 4th and 2 in the 6th.Linden answered with a run in the bottom half of the 6th when Sterling DeGayner reached on an error and was driven in by Liz Rakowski who singled to make the score 5 to 3. Linden held Lake Fenton in the top of the 7th. A Cayla Wierenga walk, doubles by Sterling DeGayner and Rhiannon Morse along with a hit by Molly Churches, led to the Linden 6 to 5 come from behind walk off win.
Ogemaw Heights Tourney
Despite playing well, Linden Varsity softball went 1 and 2 in the Ogemaw-Heights tournament Sat. May 23rd. Linden lost to host Ogemaw-Heights in game one- 17 to 6. Alexa Marsh hit a home run with 2 rbis. Molly Churches had 2 hits with 2 rbis, Liz Rakowski had 3 hits including a homerun.The 2nd game Linden won 4 to 3 vs. Tawas. Christina Clemons got the win pitching. Alexa Marsh had 2 hits and an rbi,Rhiannon Morse had 2 hits with 2 rbis. The 3rd game, Linden played Roger City losing a hard fought battle 8 to 5 in 9 innings. Alexa Marsh went 4 for 5, Cayla Wierenga hit a homerun and 3 singles, Kim Freitas added 2 hits.

Linden lost both games to Durand Thursday 5-21-15. The 1st game 8 to 5. Liz Rakowski went 4 for 4. Christina Clemons had 2 hits with an rbi. The 2nd game 8 to 3. Rhiannon Morse had 3 hits including a triple with an rbi. Cayla Weirenga had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
Carman Ainsworth
Linden swept Carman-Ainsworth on Wed. May 20th. The 1st game score was 10 to 7. Emily Williams went 4 for 4. Alexa Marsh got the win pitching. Kim Freitas had 2 hits with 3 rbis. Brittney Vargas also had 2 hits that drove in 2 runs. The 2nd game, Linden won 13 to 1. Sterling DeGayner had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs. Chelsea Caldwell was 2 for 2 with 3 rbis. Jessica Richert singled to drive in a run and also scored a run.

Linden split with Clio on Wednesday, 5-13-15. Linden won the 1st game 9 to 3. Alexa Marsh got the win pitching. At the plate, she had 2 hits. Megan Klavitter had 3 hits and Liz Rakowski had 2 hits. In the 2nd game, Linden lost 12 to 2. Liz Rakowski went 3 for 3 and drove in both of Linden's runs. Kim Freitas had 2 hits in the nightcap.

The Linden Varsity softball team took 2nd place in the Mt. Morris tournament Saturday, May 9th. Linden won the 1st game against host Mt. Morris 8 to 1. Rhiannon Morse had 2 hits and 2 rbi's. Alexa Marsh was the winning pitcher also adding an rbi single. Sterling DeGayner hit a double and scored 2 runs. The 2nd game Linden beat Perry 13 to 3. Christina Clemons got the win pitching, striking out 9. Rhiannon Morse was 4 for 4 scoring 3 runs. Alexa Marsh singled and drove in 3 runs. Liz Rakowski had 2 hits with 2 rbis.. Linden fell to Millington in the championship game 4 to 3. Sterling DeGayner singled and drove in 2 runs. Cayla Wierenga drove in a run.
Varsity Softball Splits With Flushing
Linden Varsity Softball split with Flushing on Monday, losing the 1st game 4 to 2. In the loss, Megan Klavitter and Liz Rakowski had 2 hits each. In the 2nd game, Linden won 12 to 2 in 6 innings. Alexa Marsh got the pitching win. Offensively, she had 3 hits and 5 rbis. Christina Clemons had 2 hits, 2 rbi's- Kim Freitas also added 2 hits.
Chesaning Tourney
The Linden Softball team lost its 3 games in the Chesaning tournament Sat. The 1st game to St. John's 12-3. Against Ithaca 9-1. Against Garber- Essexville, Linden tied the score 3 times in extra innings before falling 11 to 10 in the 11th inning. Liz Rakowski and Cayla Weirenga both hit .454 on the day for the Eagles.
Creek
Linden lost both games of their doubleheader against Swartz Creek on Tuesday. In the 1st game, the score was 11 to 1. Sterling DeGayner hit a triple scoring Megan Klavitter for Linden's only run. Game 2--- 13 to 12 in 8 innings. Rhiannon Morse had 4 hits, Emily Williams 3, Cayla Weirenga 2, Christina Clemons 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
Clarkston Tourney
The Linden Varsity softball team, despite solid play, drops 3 games at the Clarkston tournament Saturday, April 18th. Linden opened the tournament with a 10 to 0 loss to Division 1 host Clarkston. Linden played well defensively in the loss. Playing in her 1st Varsity tournament, Liz Rakowski broke up a no-hitter with a single. The 2nd game Linden fell to Dakota 6 to 3. Alexa Marsh pitched well giving the Eagles a chance. Megan Klavitter went 2 for 3 scoring a run. Sterling DeGayner was 2 for 3 including a double, rbi and run scored. In the 3rd game, Linden found themselves down 4 in the 1st inning but fought back to a 6 to 4 final. Christina Clemons settled down pitching and allowed the Lowell Red Arrows to score only 2 additional runs after the 1st inning giving the Eagle an opportunity to get back in the game. Liz Rakowski, Megan Klavitter, and Rhiannon Morse had 2 hits. Christina Clemons added a single. On the tournament Rakowski hit .428, Klavitter .400, Morse and Clemons .333.
Holly
The Linden varsity softball team swept Holly in last night's doubleheader. In the 1st game, Linden came back from 7 runs down to win 12 to 10. Alexa Marsh 3 hits, Emily Williams had 2 hits and Liz Rakowski had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs. In the 2nd game, Linden won 13 to 4. Alexa Marsh got the win pitching, Megan Klavitter had 3 hits, Molly Churches had 3 hits and 4 rbis.
Lake Fenton
The Linden Eagles Varsity fall to Lake Fenton 3-2The Linden Eagles Varsity fell to Lake Fenton 3-2 at Linden Varsity. Kalani Lau recorded the win for Lake Fenton. She allowed two runs over five innings. Lau struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits. Alexa Marsh couldn't get it done in the circle for the Linden Eagles Varsity, taking a loss. She lasted seven innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs. Lake Fenton closer Sydney Sheyachich put away the final six outs to record the save. Lake Fenton never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on a two-run single by Sheyachich. Two runs in the bottom of the fourth helped the Linden Eagles Varsity close their deficit to 3-2. An RBI single by Molly Churches and an RBI single by Marsh fueled the Linden Eagles Varsity's comeback. Lake Fenton stopped the rally after Lau got Emily Williams to fly out.

The Linden softball team split with Byron on Wednesday. In the 1st game, Linden came from behind in the bottom of the 7th to get the walk off win on an Alyssa Logie 2 run double. Alexa Marsh was the winning pitcher. Linden dropped the 2nd game 13 to 2. Sydney Jacques and Sterling Degayner each had 2 hits in the loss.

The Linden Varsity softball team swept Lapeer East in a Metro league doubleheader at Lindenon Friday. In the 1st game, Alexa Marsh got the 8-7 win on the mound. She had 2 hits including a walk off rbi single in the 9th inning. Rhiannon Morse had 3 hits, Sydney Jacques had an rbi single. In the 2nd game, Linden won 13 to 0. Alyssa Logie pitched a one hit shutout striking out 2 and walking none at the plate. She went 2 for 2. Sterling DeGayner, Molly Churches and Nicole Tester had rbi singles.

Linden split  a Metro League doubleheader Thursday night with Holly. Linden dropped the 1st game 12 to 4. Rhiannon Morse, Molly Churches, and Alyssa Logie all doubled and singled in the lose. Linden won the 2nd game 13 to 3. Megan Klavitter hit 3 singles and scored 3 runs. Sterling Degayner hit a triple and singled scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Alexa Marsh was the winning pitcher.  Offensively, she added a single and scored 2 runs.

Linden lost both games to Brandon on Monday. The first game 11-2. Rhiannon Morse singled and scored on a Sterling Degayner double. Alyssa Logie doubled to drive in Degayner. In the 2nd game, Linden lost 12-1. Alexa Marsh singled and drove in a run. Nicole Tester, Sydney Jacques and Megan Klavitter all had hits
Chesaning Invite
The Linden Varsity Softball team took 2nd place in the Chesaning Tournament on April 26th. Linden won their pool by defeating Merrill 6 to 3 and Pewamo-Westphalia 8 to 6. In the semi finals against Chesaning, Linden won 12 to 9 to advance to the finals where they fell to Durand 10 to 0 to take runner up in the 12 team tournament. Alexa Marsh on the mound won 2 games and got a save. She struck out 21 on the day. Kim Frietas started the game against Pewamo-Westphailia and earned her first varsity win pitching, striking out 4. Rhiannon Morse led the offense with a .583 obp scoring 6 runs and stealing 5 bases. Nicole Tester hit .400 including 2 doubles, scored 3 runs, 2 rbi's and a stolen base. Sydney Jacques added 4 hits and 2 rbi's while playing 3 different positions for the Eagles.
Flushing
Linden suffered two late inning losses to Flushing on Tuesday.  Score was 7 to 6 in the first game. Rhiannon Morse hit a triple, singled and scored 2 runs. Emily Williams also added 2 singles. Flushing rallied to win the 2nd game 10-8. Rhiannon Morse led the Linden hitting with a triple and 2 singles. Sydney Jacques hit 2 singles and drove in 2 runs.  
Creek
After Swartz Creek and Goodrich play, no movement in Flint's girls softball power rankingsLinden Varsity Softball, Lost both game of a double header with Swartz Creek last night. The first game 11 to1 Rhiannon Morse singled and scored the lone run for Linden. The 2nd game, Linden had singles by Alyssa Logie, Regan Benge, and Molly Churches. Alyssa Warren hit a double.

Corunna Pre-Districts
Linden defeated Corunna Tuesday at Lake Fenton in a pre- district matchup 6 to 5. Linden trailed 5 to 2 going into the bottom of the 7th with 1 out.  They rallied to score 4 runs. Alyssa Logie ripped a bases loaded hit to drive in the walk off run. Molly Sherman and Maija Satkowiak each had 3 hits.  The Ealges will now face Lake Fenton on their field on Saturday at 12:00.  The Championship game will be played at 2:00 on Saturday.
Ogemaw Heights
Linden Varsity Softball  went 2 and 1 in the Ogemaw Heights Tournament. Linden lost to Bullock Creek 10 to 0. Linden then won against Tawas 3 to 2 and  finished with a win against Tawas 12 to 6. 
Fenton
Linden varsity softball won the 1st game of a double header against Fenton on Monday 10 to 9 in 9 innings. Molly Sherman got the win striking out 13. Maija Satkowiak had 2 hits a walk and scored 2 runs. Bri Senter hit 2 singles and a double. Tori Davis also hit 2 singles and a double. One of the singles drove in Savannah Weaver in the bottom of the 9th for the walk off win. The 2nd game was postponed due to weather.  The second game has been re-scheduled for this afternoon at 4:00 at Linden High School. 
Bendle
Linden took both games Wednesday against Bendle. The 1st game 10 to 0. Molly Sherman struck out 11 in earning the shutout win.  She also had 3 singles. Savannah Weaver hit 3 doubles, Maija Satkowiak had 3 hits. The 2nd game score was 11 to 6. Molly Sherman struck out 13. Makayla Cavanaugh had 3 hits, Maija Satkowiak had 4 hits, and Savannah Weaver hit a homerun.
Lapeer West
The LInden softball team won both games Monday against Lapeer West to extend their win streak to 9 in a row!!  Molly Sherman stuck out 7 battters in the first game to get the win for the Eagles 8-2.  Tori Davis had 2 doubles and a single to pace the offense.  Alyssa Logie hit a triple and a single.
In the nightcap, the Eagles fell behind by three runs in the first inning before coming back with 5 in the 2nd by a pair of 2 run homers by Molly Sherman and Alyssa Logie.  Sydney Jacques singled and eventually scored on a ground out.  Along with her homerun, Logie hit a double and had 2 singles.  Tori Davis added 2 hits, 2 walks and scored 4 runs.  Sydney Jacques added a double.  The final score was 15-6. 
Mt. Morris Invitational
Varsity Softball Wins Mt. Morris Tournament

The Linden Varsity softball team won the Mt. Morris tournament on Saturday, May 11th. Linden played Millington the first game winning by the score of 7 to 5. Bri Senter had 3 hits, one being a homerun. Savannah Weaver also hit a solo homerun. Molly Sherman struck out 7--  getting the win. Linden beat Southwestern in the 2nd game 14 to 4. Alexa Marsh recorded her first varsity win striking out 3. Reagan Benge hit a double and scored 2 runs. Linden played Sault Ste.Marie in the finals. Molly Sherman struck out 7,  getting the 9 to 0 shutout win. Molly also had 4 hits driving in 6 runs. Bri Senter added a triple and  a single. Maija Satkowiak hit a double, 2 singles, drew a base on balls and scored 4 runs. Savannah Weaver hit 2 singles and scored 3 runs in the victory.  
Holly
The Linden Varsity softball team swept Holly Thursday 11-1.  The first game, Molly Sherman struck out 12 getting the win. Alyssa Warren had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.   Jordan Musson Had a hit and scored twice. Molly Sherman also pitched the 2nd game striking out 9 in the 15-1 victory. Reagan Benge had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Savannah Weaver hit a single, double, and a triple.

Linden Varsity Softball swept Clio on Monday . Molly Sherman struck out 13 in the the 1st game, getting the 4 to 0 win.  This was her 3rd strait shutout victory. Bri Senter and Makayla Cavanaugh had 2 hits each.  Linden won the 2nd game 11 to 2.   Molly Sherman struck out 8.  Offensively, she had a 4 hit game. Maija Satkowiak hit a double and 2 singles.  Savannah Weaver hit a double, 2 singles and scored  3 runs.

Charlotte Invite
Linden Varsity softball went 2 and 1 in the Charlotte tournament on Saturday.  Linden beat host Charlotte in the first game 7-0. Molly Sherman pitched the shutout, allowing only one hit. Offensively,  she hit 2 doubles and a single.  Maija Satkowiak also hit 2 doubles and a single. In the second game,  Linden lost 5-2 to Lake Fenton.  Alyssa Logie pitched the complete game.  Makayla Cavanaugh had 3 hits and 2 stolen bases. In the third game,  Linden played Mason.  Molly Sherman threw her 2nd shutout of the day getting a 5 to 0 win scattering only 4 hits. Sydney Jacques hit a bases loaded double to drive in 3 runs.
Corunna
Linden swept Corunna in a non-league doubleheader Thursday. In the first game the score was 4 to 2.  Savannah Weaver had 2 hits and scored a run. Katie Conaway had 2 hits.  Makayla Cavanugh stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs. Morgan Grantner was the winning pitcher striking out 5. In the second game,  Molly Sherman struck out 10 while giving up only 2 hits and earning a 4 to 1 win. Bri Senter had 2 hits and stole a base. Tori Davis hit 2 singles and scored a run. 
Brandon
Linden won both games of a double header with Brandon on Monday .The 1st game by the score of 6 to 4. Morgan Grantner was the winning pitcher. Bri Senter had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. Savannah Weaver had a double and a single.Linden won the second game 7 to 6 in 9 innings.  Molly Sherman got the win, striking out 6. She also hit 2 doubles; one in the top of the 9th that drove in the eventual game winning rbi. Alyssa Warren had two hits. Tori Davis hit a single and a double.

Linden Softball won both games last night against Kearsley. Morgan Grantner pitched the 3 to 0 shutout to get the win. Bri Senter singled and scored.  Savannah Weaver doubled and scored a run. The score of the second game was 13 to 5. Molly Sherman got the win and added 2 singles. Bri Senter hit 2 doubles.  Maija Satkowiak also hit 2 doubles. Sydney Jacques singled twice. Savannah Weaver hit a grand slam that  broke a 4 to 4 tie in the 4th inning.  She  also had a triple and single in the victory. 
Creek
Linden lost both games to Swartz Creek Monday, April 22nd.   1st game 11 to 0, Linden was held to three singles by Maija Satkowiak, Makayla Cavanaugh and Katie Conaway. The second game score was 10 to 7. In the loss Linden hit better and played good defensively, Tori Davis had 2 singles, Savannah Weaver had a hit and scored 2 runs, Maija Satkowiak, singled, doubled, and drove in 3 runs.
Lapeer East
Linden Varsity Softball won both games of a doubleheader against Lapeer East on Monday night.  The 1st game- 18 to 5- Molly Sherman was the winning pitcher striking out 5, adding 3 hits to her cause. Maija Satkowiak had 3 hits including 2 doubles and a homerun. Sydney Jacques had 3 hits including a triple. In the 2nd game, Linden won 16 to 0. Morgan Grantner pitched a no hitter to get the win.  She also added 2 hits.  Maija Satkowiak had 3 hits including 2 doubles. 
Softball vs. Bendle
The JV and Varsity Softball games vs. Bendle on March 21st have been cancelled.  We hope to reschedule them to a later date.
2013 trouts
2013 Softball tryouts begain Monday March 11th, 3:30 till 5:30, students should meet in the cafeteria, promptly at 3:30. Students must have tryout card to participate.
2013 Off Season Hitting/Conditioning
  Softball offseason conditioning will start wed.Jan. 9th at 5:30, in the High school weight room. Sunday, 4 at a time hitting will start Sun. Jan  13th. sign-up sheet will be in Athletic office Mon. Jan 7th. 2013 Softball tryouts begin March 11th time TBA. Physical must be turned in to tryout.
Fowlerville
The Linden Varsity Softball Team, split a  doubleheader with Fowlerville last night. Linden won the first game by the score of 8 to 1. Julie Guckian, went the distance on the mound to earn the win. Striking out 5, and giving up only 4 hits. Molly Sherman went 3 for 4, including a double, 2 rbi"s and a stolen base, Maija Satkowiak was also 3 for 4, Katelyn Webster had 2 hits and an rbi. Linden collected 13 hits in the win. Linden lost the second game 9 to 8. In the loss Linden had 13 hits, Katelyn Webster had two with an rbi triple, Maija Satkowiak and Morgan Grantner both had 2 hits including rbi doubles. Alyssa Loggie had 2 singles and drew a walk. Sydney Jaques hit a double driving in 2 runs.
Lapeer East
In the 1st game of the doubleheader, Linden won 10 to 6. Bri Senter had 3 hits, 2 RBIs, scored 2 runs and stole 2 bases. Maija Satkowiak and Savannah Weaver each added 2 hits. Morgan Grantner got the win in relief. In the 2nd game, Molly Sherman pitched a complete game earning the win. At the plate, she drew 2 walks and added an RBI single. Savannah Weaver hit a 2 run over the fence homerun and had an RBI double. Bri Senter went 3 for 4 including a double, scored 3 runs, an RBI and stole 1 base. Maija Satkowiak added 2 singles and scored a run.
Brandon
Linden varsity softball split with Brandon last night.  Game #1 score was 7-2. In the loss, Maija Satkowiak had two doubles and a single.  Game #2 Linden won 19-6.  The Eagles bats came alive collecting 22 hits.  Maija Satkowiak and Katelyn Webster had 4 each.  Kaitlyn had 3 including 2 doubles.  Morgan Grantner got the win.
Lapeer West
Linden Varsity Softball team split with Lapeer West Thursday night losing the first game 10-0.  In the loss Savannah Weaver and Katelyn Webster each singled.  The Eagles rebounded in the second game, winning by a score of 9-1.  Molly Sherman was the winning pitcher striking out 5 and giving up only 4 hits.  Sherman helped offensively by having 2 hits, driving in two runs as well as scoring a run. Taylor Wilson had a double and a single, drove in 3 and scoring a run.
Kearsley
Linden lost both games to Kearsley Tuesday night.  First game score, 4-3.  Kaitlyn Dunleavy went 3 for 3.  Katelyn Webster was 1 for 2 scoring two runs.  Morgan Grantner hit one double driving in two runs. Second game score was 8-2.  In the loss, Katelyn Webster had a double and a triple, driving in a run and scoring a run.  Taylor Wilson went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Clio
In the first game, Julie Guckian was the winning pitcher.  Morgan Grantner drew a walk in the bottom of the 7th inning that proved to be the winning run on a Savannah Weaver walk off hit.  In the suspended night cap game that was completed Friday night at Linden, Morgan Grantner pitched the complete game shutout, giving up only 4 hits.  This game was also won in the bottom of the seventh 1-0.  Majia Satkowiak led off that inning with a single. Kaitlyn Dunleavy sacrificed bunted  Satkowiak to 2nd base after a strike out.  Morgan Grantner had the walk off hit that scored Majia Satkowiak to win the game.
Holly
The Linden Varsity Softball team won both games against Holly. In the 1st. game the score was 16 to 0. Julie Guckian pitched the shutout giving up only one hit striking out 6, In this 5 run mercy rule game.  Kaitlyn Dunleavy and Savannah Weaver each had 3 hits. The second game Linden won by the score of 12 to 3. Morgan Grantner was the winning pitcher, and adding 3 hits offensively. Tori Davis also added 3 hits.Maija Satkowiak went 5 for 5, including 2 doubles, driving in 3 and scoring 2 runs.
Fenton
The Linden Varsity Softball team lost both games against Fenton last night. The 1st game,  Linden 0- Fenton 10. Maija Satkowiak and Katelyn Webster, both hit doubles in the loss. The second game score  Linden 5- Fenton 9.   Savannah Weaver hit a double and a single.
Creek
Linden Varsity Softball team split with Sw. Creek last night,The first game score was 6-5 Maija Satkowiak, Kaitlyn Dunleavy, and Taylor Wilson all had  hits. Julie Guckian was the winning pitcher striking out 7. The score of the 2nd game was Sw. Creek 11 Linden 1.
Carman Ainsworth
Linden Varsity Softball won both games against Carman- Ainsworth last night by the scores of 9-2 and 11-1. In the first game, Makayla Cavanugh went 4 for 4 with 2 singles, a double, and a triple driving in 2 runs. Sarah Rode and Katelyn Webster each had 2 hits. In the 2nd game, Macayla Cavanugh hit 2 singles, drove in 3 runs, walked twice, as well as scoring 3 runs and stealing a base. Savannah Weaver and Kaitlyn Dunleavy both had 2 hits.
Byron
In the first game, Julie Guckian pitched a 2 hitter with 6 strike outs for the win.  Tori Davis went 3 for 3 at the plate, Katelyn Webster had 2 hits and 2 rbi's.  Molly sherman earned the win in the second game with a 2 hitter and 5 strike outs.  Katelyn Webster went 4 for 4 including a triple and a double.  Maija Satkowiak and Molly Sherman had 3 hits each.  Sarah Rode went 3 for 3 and Makayla Cavanaugh drove in 3 runs.

Mt. Morris
Linden won both games Thursday night against Mt. Morris. The first game 11 to 1, Julie Guckian gave up only 2 hits in the 5 inning game, striking out 8. She also got the win in the 2nd game in relief, striking out 4.  She added 2 hits and scored 2 runs, as well.   Maija Satkowiak went 6 for 7 in the DH, with 7 rbi's and scoring 6 runs. In
addition, Savannah Weaver went 3 for 6 and  scored 4 times and  Tori Davis had 3 hits,  3 rbi's and scored 3 times. The final score of the 2nd game was 18-1.
Hartland
The Eagles opened the season with a double header against non-league Hartland and dropped both 2-4 and 5-9.  Maija Satkowiak went 3 for 6 with 2 walks; Savannah Weaver hit two doubles, and Molly Sherman had three hits and 4 RBI's.
2012 Softball Tryouts
  Softball tryouts begin Monday March 12th. Meet in room G-111 at 3 pm. Tryout and practice time for the 1st. week are 3 till 5:30 , A mandatory parent meeting is scheduled for Friday March 16th. at 6pm.
Winter Hitting and Conditioning
  Winter hitting will begin Sunday Jan. 8th. Off season conditioning will start Wed. Jan 11th at 5:30 pm in the weight room.
Pre-season meeting
Softball Pre-Season Meeting Sunday September 18th at the Varsity Field, Items to be covered will include off season hitting and conditioning. Anyone interested in playing the 2012 season should attend.
Lake Fenton
Linden split a doubleheader with Lake Fenton on 6-2-11.   Linden won the 1st game 9-1.   Julie Guckian struck out nine.   Savannah Weaver had 3 hits.  Tori Davis 2 doubles and Olivia Williams added 2 hits.  In the 2nd game, Linden lost 7-1.   Molly Sherman singled and scored on a Bri Senter single for Linden's lone run.
Ogemaw Heights Tourney

Julie Guckian got the win by striking out 10.  Katie Berlin had two hits and scored a run, Kaitlyn Dunleavy had two hits, stole one base and scored a run.

Linden 3 Vestaburg 6
Bri Senter had 2 hits, Katelyn Webster singled and scored a run and also turned an unassisted double play.  Kaitlyn Dunleavy doubled in two runs.

Linden 6 Ladywood 9
Savannah Weaver singled and doubled, Molly Sherman singled and tripled for the Eagles.

Lapeer East
Linden Varsity Softball swept Lapeer East last night.  In the first game the score was 9-0.  Julie Guckian pitched the shut out striking out 9.  Tori Davis had 3 hits.  The second game was 7-3.  Molly Sherman was the winning pitcher striking out 6 and also had 2 hits.  Morgan Grantner also added 2 doubles to seal the victory.
Fowlerville
Linden Varsity Softball split with Fowlerville last night.  First game score was 7-6.  Katie Berlin had 3 hits and scored 3 runs.  Katelyn Webster had 2 singles and drove in a run.  In the 2nd game, Linden won 12-0.  Julie Guckian pitched the no hit shutout allowing only one baserunner by a walk-- striking out 11.
West
The Linden Varsity Softball team lost both games to Lapeer West last night.  First game score 3-1.  Tori Davis singled and scored the only run.  Katie Berlin doubled.  Katelyn Webster hit a sacrifice fly for the RBI.  Molly Sherman pitched a solid game allowing only three hits and striking out 9.  The second game score was 6-3.  Katelyn Webster again had a sacrifice fly RBI.  Bri Senter drove in a run and Taylor Wilson had an RBI double.
Eagles Drop Two to Fenton
Linden lost both games in the varsity contest against Fenton Tuesday night.  First game score was 9-2.  Savannah Weaver had 2 singles and drove in a run.  Molly Sherman also had a single and drove in the second run.  Second game score was Fenton 8-Linden 1.  Savannah Weaver doubled twice. Taylor Wilson also doubled to drive in the only run.  Linden's next contest will be against Clio at Clio on Thursday.

Eagles On A Roll
Linden Varsity softball won both games  last night against Holly.  The  first game was 14-3.  Julie Guckian pitched the complete game, striking out 6.  Katie Berlin was 4 for 4;  Maija Satkowiak and Katelyn Webster  added 3 hits each.  Game 2 ended in a 11-1 mercy.  Paige Harwood went  the distance striking out 10 to gain the win.  Maija Satkowiak had 3 hits.  Morgan Grantner doubled and singled.  Olivia Williams added 2 hits.  Linden plays Fenton tonight at Linden.
Linden Sweeps Again!
 Linden Varsity Softball defeated Carman last night both games of the double header.  In the first game, the score was 4-2. Linden scored in the first inning on a Tori Davis single, Maija Satkowiak triple and Kaitlyn Dunleavy single.  Linden also scored two more runs in the fifth on singles  by Katie Berlin and Tori Davis.  After an out, Katelyn Webster doubled to drive in the runs.  Julie Guckian went the distance striking out 10 and only allowing 2 unearned runs in the 7th.   In the second game, Linden mercy ruled 15-0.  Tori Davis singled 3 times.  Maija Satkowiak singled twice and tripled.  Olivia Williams singled and tripled.  Paige Harwood held Carmen scoreless, striking out 6 to gain the win.
Eagles Sweep Mt. Morris
Linden swept Mt. Morris in a non-league double header Thursday, April 21---Scores 14-5 and 14-7.  Katie Berlin went 5 for 10 on the night with 6 RBIs.  Kaitlyn Dunleavy was 8 for 10 including 2 doubles.  Morgan Grantner was the winning pitcher in the first game and got the save in the second  game.  She also had 3 hits.  Taylor Wilson caught the first game.  She doubled, plus had two singles
Linden Drops Two to Creek
Linden lost the first game of the double header 8-1 in their Metro League opener at Creek on Thursday.  Katie Berlin singled and doubled and Savannah Weaver singled and scored the only run for the Eagles.  Linden also dropped the second game 2-4 with Katie Berlin again adding a single and a double.  Tori Davis went 3 for 4 including an RBI.  Kaitlyn Dunleavy added two hits.  Maija Satkowiak doubled to score the second run.  The Eagles will compete in the Stockbridge Invite on Saturday.
